Born and raised amidst the vibrant cityscape of Dallas, Texas, Jason "Jay" Horn is an Independent Filmmaker, Husband, Father of 4, and Athlete. He creates content for every age group and can captivate audiences with his understanding of the many facets of film. At the age of 48, he has been a professional in many industries that have prepared him to be one of the best filmmakers of all time. He has been a professional athlete, a professional hairstylist, and a Senior Accountant for the #2 Steel company in the world, and in his younger years, he worked in every fast food chain possible. He is a grounded spiritual man with beliefs that mirror positive collaborations. He is also fraternal, joining several organizations. As a family and businessman, he understands the responsibility of handling large groups of people, large sums of money, and projects that have complex setups. Coming from a single-parent home in a poverty-stricken community, Jay Horn has dedicated his life to being an example to people who have no hope in these environments. His community service has been recognized in many states and his willingness to speak to the youth about art and film led him to be awarded a scholarship from the State of California to go to the American Film Institute in the Fall of 2025 for the Director's Masters Program. His vast experience as a Director, Writer, Cinematographer, Editor, and Producer, comes from his independent film career where he has completed over 500 independently funded projects from genres such as Drama, Comedy, Action, and Family. His first feature film "MY BEST FRIEND BEST FRIEND" was released in 2019. A drama story about a married man whose best friend is a female caught up in the death of her roommate. It was accepted into 5 film festivals, including the INDIE NIGHT FILM FESTIVAL, where they screened it the first weekend of Sept 2019 and it received great reviews. He then was contracted to shoot the trailer for the film "BABYGIRL", Written and Directed by Donald B. Welch, a critically acclaimed playwright, which secured funding for his film which was purchased by ALLBlk.
In 2020, he was contracted to Direct and DP the web series "PAY UP HOLLYWOOD" " written by Ciera Rogers and distributed by Amazon Prime for 2 years. He was contracted to write and consult on the movie "THE NIK", which was eventually sold. Recent projects include The Love & Brotherhood Trilogy. The web series "Love & Brotherhood", which had over 5 million views collectively on YouTube, was adapted into a feature that was accepted in 13 film festivals and won "Best Feature" at the CIFF. It was one of the first TUBI projects that were distributed independently in 2021. "Love & Brotherhood: The Sequel", was accepted in 19 film festivals, 6 Best Picture Awards, and 2 Semi-Finalist Awards. "Love & Brotherhood: The Finale has been written and will be a follow-up project soon. Among some of his other successful shows are "HOOD LOVE", "MY LIVE IN BODYGUARD", and "WHEN SHE LEAVES IT ON PURPOSE", which have amassed millions of views worldwide and still making an impact on social media today. He prides himself as a self-taught, self-motivated independent filmmaker with a passion for filmmaking and a dedication to preserving industry-standard film projects for the future.
